What It's Like to Hang at the Super Hot Bar You Own? Shep Rose Can Fill You In

The #SouthernCharm bar owner has been known to "cut a rug" at his own establishments.

By Jocelyn Vena

Shep Rose is not a guy who turns down the chance to have some fun. But when it comes to busting loose in one of the establishments that he co-owns in Charleston (like the Commodore), partying takes on a whole new meaning for this Southern Charm man about town.

How to Watch

Watch Southern Charm on Bravo Thursdays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo App.

"I am usually having a good time with everybody else. Sometimes I'll cut a rug. I've definitely been a little too out of control once or twice, and not been asked to leave, but [it's] like, 'Shep, come on," he told Bravo After Hours about finding the balance between establishment owner and partygoer. "I was doing trust falls off the stage one night and people were catching me and I was basically crowd surfing and they were like, 'Listen, if we have to put up with some bulls*** from some customers, please not have it be you.' So there's that, [but] all in all it's super positive — hugs and high fives from all the employees when I go in there. Yeah, it's great; I love it."

In addition to the Commodore, Shep also has a stake in The Alley and the Palace Hotel, which he hopes will soon reopen after a fire and a hurricane earlier this year. With several bar options, you can bet that his Southern Charm pals frequent his hang outs.

"It's funny — Thomas [Ravenel] and Whitney [Sudler-Smith] both love it. I mean Cam[eran Eubanks] doesn't go out cause she's a married nerd. Craig [Conover's] been in a few times, but Craig kind of has toned it down lately," he said. "I've got a ton of friends, and it's just great to have them in there and everybody loves it. And it's just nice to have arguably the hottest spot in town — I know things don't last forever, but right now everybody's all smiles and they're lovely."

And, if you should happen to stop by one of Shep's spots, you just might see Thomas getting his groove on. "When Thomas dances it's really something to see," Shep said. "He's got this sort of slide around and does this leg kick. I love seeing Thomas cut loose because it's pure joy and it's like he's a kid, basically."

Below, Shep and his pals share more party stories.
