Slade Smiley Shares an Update on His Son's Battle with Brain Cancer
"He’s hanging in there," The Real Housewives of Orange County alum shared.
The Real Housewives of Orange County alum Slade Smiley's son, Grayson, is still fighting hard in his ongoing battle with brain cancer, Slade revealed in an interview with Page Six this week. “He’s hanging in there. He recently turned 17, praise the Lord," he said.
Grayson was first diagnosed with the disease in 2006, and his mom updates fans on their son's ongoing condition via a support website as well as Facebook. “He does have a lot of complications, but he’s in regular physical therapy,” Slade said. “We have school come to the house, so he’s actually really looking good. Really, really good. I’m pretty excited.”
In additon to Grayson, Slade is also dad to 27-year-old Gavin who Slade confirmed recently got engaged. (Another of the O.C. kids, Shane Keough, also confirmed his recent engagement.)
And there could be more kids in the future: Slade noted that he and longtime love, Gretchen Rossi, are still hoping to start a family of their own, a sentiment she also recently revealed during another interview.
“I tend to have children every 10 years," he said. “We were laughing. We were like, ‘Your son is going to have a baby the same time we have a baby,’ which is going to be so funny and weird. But he says they aren’t having a baby for a while, so I think we’re in the clear.”
