Sonja Morgan Teases New Season: 'Carole Is My Wingwoman'

The RHONY star also says fans will see the ladies "lose their crap."

By Hilary Hughes

The time is near for a new season of The Real Housewives of New York City, and Sonja Morgan is spilling some details about developments that'll rock the Big Apple this year.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New York City on Bravo Tuesdays at 9/8c and stream next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

In a recent interview with Wetpaint, Sonja didn't plead the fifth when it came to giving a sneak peek for the upcoming season and what's up with her friends on the show (and foes). "There’s a total 180 on the new girls who were all nicey-nicey last year," she says. "This year you see their other side. They don’t have the patience they had last year. But you always see that with the newcomers, they come on all balanced and then they lose their crap."

She's talking about one "new girl" in particular. Last season, Carole Radziwill made a few enemies at the RHONY reunion special, where she was held accountable for comments she'd made during confessionals. Carole's approach—to both confrontation and her cast mates—has changed for the better. "That got a little annoying last season," Sonja says. "This season I really respect her a lot more because it’s more to the face."

That honesty has led to newfound friendship: Carole and Sonja get a little wild out west on a girls' trip as we've seen in previews for the new season. Turns out the ladies make for each other's perfect "wingwoman," and LuAnn de Lesseps is joining in on the fun as well.

"You’ve got Carole shooting a gun, and I’m throwing a tomahawk," Sonja says about the trip. "I’m rustling some cattle up. I’m also rustling up some men—and so is Carole.  And LuAnn is always sort of a wingwoman because she’s single."

Still, we're expecting some sparks to fly, and Sonja's ready to both light some matches and put out some fires in that regard. "You can always expect the unexpected with reality TV because we don’t know how we’re going to react," she says. "We go into our scenes like 'I’m so mad at so-and-so' or 'I’m not talking to her,' and then after a couple of cocktails it changes. We all have our egos, we’re all very independent. And you just can’t keep us from holding our tongues, and that’s the problem. And especially for a trip away for a few days, it just adds up to TNT."

What do you think of Sonja and Carole's "wingwoman"-hood? What are you looking forward to the most this season? Let us know in the comments.
