Southern Charm's Kathryn C. Dennis and Thomas Ravenel Expecting Baby No. 2

The #SouthernCharm stars are about to expand their family.

A big congrats to Southern Charm's Kathryn C. Dennis and Thomas Ravenel, who have confirmed they have a baby on the way. This marks the second child for the Charleston pair, who welcomed daughter Kensington Calhoun in March 2014. Kathryn is due in December.

How to Watch

Watch Southern Charm on Bravo Thursdays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo App.

"This pregnancy’s been different just because I’m living in Charleston. I’m not moving around. I have my family to help," Kathryn told The Daily Dish. "I’m not sick or having any issues. So that's been a blessing, both with the first pregnancy and this pregnancy."

As for Thomas? "Thomas is still soaking in the news and trying to make his changes. He travels a lot with polo and he’s very busy. He’s just kind of adjusting right now, I think. But, you know, he is excited," she added.

Having already been pregnant has made this experience different for Kathryn. "Yeah, I do feel more relaxed. More or less anxious [too] because everyone says having two is so much different than having one," she said. "It is a little nerve-racking just wondering what that dynamic will be like and how different it will make my day to day."

And while the parents are gearing up for baby No. 2, Kensington hasn't fully grasped the concept of being a big sister. "She doesn't understand I have a baby in my belly or anything like that," Kathryn said. "I think by the time the baby's born and she gets a little older, you know, she'll understand a little bit more and have fun with the baby."

Overall, Kathryn feels that her role as a mom has changed her. "I just feel a lot more grounded and when I make decisions I base them on the long term effect rather than the short term effect," she said. "It kind of allows you to not get caught up in the little things anymore. You realize what's important, I guess."

Right now, her focus is on Kensington, who she thinks has gotten some traits from both mom and dad. "I do [see myself in her]. I don’t know if it's her expressions or what," she said. "When she smiles I can see it, and her little nose looks just like mine. Thomas is very active, and energetic, and on from thing to the other very quickly, and that's kind of something I see that she takes after him."

The mom-to-be isn't the only one looking forward to having another tot around by year's end. "The greatest gift thus far in my life has been the privilege of being a father to my daughter Kensie," Thomas told People. "Now, with a son on the way, I feel doubly blessed. 'My cup runneth over.' "

Still, the news was a surprise to them both. "I was surprised," Kathryn shared. "Thomas and I are always on and off, but we had a whirlwind romance that weekend. That's kind of how we were with the first pregnancy, too. Things were wishy-washy, but we embraced it."

"We are friends," she added of their current relationship status. "We communicate and things are pleasant. "That's all I can really hope for."
