This Is Why Kathryn Dennis and Chleb Ravenell Broke Up
The Southern Charm couple opened up about their relationship issues in an emotional conversation.
Kathryn Dennis opened up about her romance with Chleb Ravenell in the Season 8 premiere of Southern Charm, noting in the June 23 episode, “I love how good of a heart Chleb has, and he’s got a really great outlook on life. I tend to overanalyze everything, and he just kind of simplifies everything for me.”
Though Kathryn and Chleb had moved in together, the pair went on to experience some issues in their relationship, eventually deciding to part ways following an emotional conversation in the July 7 episode.
“This fight is over nothing. But for Chleb to just leave for a few days, my abandonment issues triggered,” Kathryn said in an interview during the episode. She also opened up to Chleb’s mom, Debbie, with whom she had formed a bond, about her and Chleb’s relationship. “We’ve been having issues for a while as far as I don’t know if we’re growing towards the same thing,” Kathryn told Debbie in a phone conversation, adding, “He’s not making kind of, like, the effort necessarily that I want him to.”
Chleb also revealed details about his relationship troubles with Kathryn during a gathering with some of his castmates, including Austen Kroll, Shep Rose, Craig Conover, and John Pringle, sharing that he had been staying with his cousin Chelsie. “I haven’t been home in a few days,” he told them, later adding, “I got my mom calling me, saying to fix it with her. I don’t know… It weighs on my heart.”
Though Chleb seemed to echo Kathryn’s sentiments about their rift, saying it was “just a little argument going a little too far,” and while Kathryn shared that she thought Chleb “was going to be [her] forever person,” the couple’s tense conversation over dinner led to their breaking up.
“I feel like you’re emotionally unavailable, and you know I’ve been in relationships with emotionally unavailable people,” Kathryn told Chleb, adding, “I haven’t seen you taking the steps to fulfill the role that I would like someone to fill.”
Chleb went on to express what had made him “pull back,” adding, “It’s hard to fill that role, because I didn’t know what I was getting into before dating you.” In a tearful exchange, Kathryn shared that she felt the “best thing” for both of them would be to go their “separate ways,” putting an end to their relationship after just over a year of being together.
And ICYMI, the July 7 episode was filled with even more relationship drama among the Southern Charm-ers, including between longtime BFFs Craig and Austen, which you can get the scoop on by pressing play on the clip below.
