Here's What We Know About Patricia Altschul's "Mr. C" — Who Gifted Her a Massive Promise Ring
"I think there's an engagement," Whitney Sudler-Smith shared about his mom's relationship.
Are you ready for some big news? Like, are you sitting down for this? Well, Patricia Altschul shared some pretty big news during Thursday's Southern Charm Season 5 premiere. That news? Well, she has a special man in her life and he's gifted her an incredible promise ring. Yes, that's right, Patricia has found love and this guy has a pretty great eye for bling, as she proved when she flaunted her giant promise ring from a mystery man only identified as Mr. C.
"She has a gentleman caller," Whitney Sudler-Smith revealed to Shep Rose in the episode about the mystery guy in his mom's life. "I think there's an engagement," he added. We then learned a bit more about this "engagement" in a flashback to the day before when Whitney sat down with his mom.
Patricia shows off her promise ring to Whitney.
"Everything is going great with Mr. C. He gave me this promise ring. Could be bigger?" she joked about the rock. "Nobody in the group apparently is marriage material, but me."
Whitney then reflected on his mother's romantic past with Shep. "This is as much news to you as it is to me ... The first time I was at school in England and I got a telegram saying she had gotten married. That was f---ing weird. It was like a yellow piece of paper saying, 'I'm married. I'm on the boat. I'll call you when I'm off the boat.'"
Patricia has been married three previous times. She was married to Whitney's father, Lon Smith, for 14 years before they divorced. After they separated she writes in her memoir, The Art of Southern Charm, that she "could have remarried several times, but being a good mother to Whitney always came first, my career came second, and having fun came third." She later married Edward Fleming and Arthur Altschul. And in her memoir she also revealed that she's had "four engagement rings from my past."
