Shep gave his cousin Marcie Hobbs an official welcome to the Charleston crew at Naomie Olindo’s party in the episode. Marcie, a real estate agent, lived all over the world before settling in Charleston, according to her bio on BravoTV.com.

Marcie explained that her father, who passed away when she was 5 years old, was the brother of Shep’s mother, making the Southern Charm-ers first cousins. And Shep and Marcie actually have a lot in common. “Before I met [my husband] John, I was quite the party girl. You know, I was kind of like a girl Shep,” Marcie explained in an interview during the episode. “And now I have nice dinner parties instead of wild Animal House parties.”

Her bio on BravoTV.com says, “Marcie and Shep have always been close, and she is one of the few people who can ask Shep the hard-hitting questions without feeling his wrath.”

Shep also opened up about his kinship with Marcie. “Marcie and I are the black sheep, there’s no doubt about it. We’re the only ones out of 14, 15 grandchildren that aren’t married with kids,” he said in an interview during the episode. “Well, up until now.”

That’s because Marcie is expecting her first child, a baby girl, with her husband, John. Marcie, who is neighbors with Patricia Altschul, also noted of her husband, “John didn’t know that I had money until we signed a prenup.”

Marcie admitted that, before she settled down, someone in the Southern Charm gang had caught her eye. “I used to have the biggest crush on Austen [Kroll] before I met John,” Marcie told Taylor Ann Green and Olivia Flowers at Naomie’s party. “I don’t know if he ever knew it. I’m just gonna pretend that he didn’t, because he never made a move on it [laughs].”

But Marcie gave Olivia her blessing to see where things go with Austen on this season of Southern Charm. “Point is, I’ve always been wanting him to need someone, and you’re adorable,” Marcie told Olivia. “Like, all for y’all’s relationship. I just think he’s great.”

We can’t wait to see more of Marcie as this season of Southern Charm continues!
