The April 17 episode of Summer House found the group still working through the drama of the season, especially as Lindsay Hubbard and Danielle Olivera navigate the growing tensions in their friendship.

Early in Monday’s episode, the pair had a strained check-in in NYC during Lindsay and Carl Radke’s housewarming-slash-birthday party and attempted to get to the bottom of their issues. When the crew found themselves back in the Hamptons later in the episode, Carl decided it was time for him and Danielle to check in with each other.

While Lindsay was out with some of the group for a night on the town, Carl and Danielle were among the friends who stayed in for a pizza party hosted by Carl. And it was post-pizza that they finally sat down together. “I know it’s probably long overdue, but I do want to talk to you,” Carl told his longtime friend in the episode. “You want to just chat for a few minutes?”

When they stepped aside to have their conversation, Carl said, “Obviously there’s been a lot of conversations between you and Lindsay and other chatter. It seems like it’s very complicated,” noting that he wants to “figure out” what is happening.

From there, Danielle shared, “I want to hear it from your perspective, because obviously, I had a conversation with Lindsay at Kyle’s birthday party” (featured in the April 10 episode, clip above). Carl noted that they seemed to make “some good ground” during that conversation, and Danielle agreed, with a caveat: “Yeah, I actually thought she heard me. She was receptive and then something happened [at] your housewarming where a lot of that was undone.”

The longer the two checked in with each other, the more the conversation turned tense and emotional, leaving what seemed to be little room for resolution. “I mean, Lindsay feels very strongly and I feel like you feel strongly about me and Lindsay’s relationship. And I don’t know if you’re on board with it. We’ve been dating for almost 10 months — and, obviously, you and I have had a history way long ago. We dated briefly [in 2014], but I don’t know, [Lindsay and I are] very happy. We’re in love. Do you not want us to be together?”

“That’s not it at all,” Danielle clarified. “I love you guys together. Do I think you guys are moving hella fast? One thousand percent.”

As the episode closed out, the friends seemed to be at an impasse as they hashed out their respective relationship timelines (Danielle was still with Robert Sieber at the time), and she became increasingly frustrated after she pointed out that he has been engagement ring shopping (spoiler alert: Carl and Lindsay are currently engaged). Fans will have to check out the next episode of Summer House to find out where the conversation leads next for Carl and Danielle.
