Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula Reveal Major Updates About Their Marriage
After a drama-filled season leading up to their momentous wedding, the Summer House couple reveals what's next for their relationship.
After all the stresses of wedding planning during their three-year engagement and a drama-filled season in the Summer House, Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula finally said "I do" on September 25, 2021. But the newlyweds wouldn't be able to celebrate their love until about four months after their wedding, going on a honeymoon in St. John — well, actually, "a little mini-moon," as Kyle referred to it when he and Amanda spoke to Bravo Insider exclusively in January, fresh off of the romantic getaway.
"It's been so crazy and so busy, and [we] had so much going on that we finally found an opportunity to just get away for, I mean, like, three days over the weekend," Amanda added. "It was beautiful. It was everything we wanted. It was relaxing. It was fun. We didn't just sit on a beach all day, but we were, you know, on a boat, we were snorkeling, we just hung out. I don't know. It was exactly what you want to do for a relaxing trip but still feel like you're taking in the surroundings and making the most of it."
Kyle's use of the phrase "mini-moon" implies that there will be a full-blown honeymoon in the future, which, rest assured, is exactly what the Summer House couple is planning. "Well, first of all, Kyle needs to renew his passport before we can really go anywhere, so I would love to have him start doing that so we can figure out when we can go somewhere," Amanda noted (fans may remember that detail about Kyle's passport from the drama surrounding Amanda's 30th birthday gift this season of Summer House). "But for our one-year anniversary, I know a lot of people have just pushed off their honeymoon until then, so we might do something in September. We'll see."
As for where the couple hopes to honeymoon, Amanda said that she is envisioning "warm, tropical beach environments where you have that little bit of romance and privacy" and somewhere with "good food, good drinks, and good sightseeing." Kyle also said that he's been thinking about places like the Amalfi Coast or possibly stopping off in Croatia before traveling to Italy.
After the honeymoon, could family vacations be in Amanda and Kyle's future? "We, obviously, would love to start a family," Amanda said. "Hopefully we're fortunate enough that when we're ready, it comes quickly and easily for us. But, you know, we'll see."
Amanda added that, when it comes to one day having kids with Kyle, she hopes to also be able to share the experience with her closest pals. "I think I'm just waiting for some of my friends to be in the same place. A lot of my friends are engaged or in serious relationships and getting married soon. So I'd like to be able to be at their wedding not with child, and I'd also love to be pregnant and be having kids around the same age as some of my friends," she shared. "We'll just have to see when the rest of my group catches up to me, and that's when we'll be ready."
Still, the couple was gearing up to add some new additions to their family at the time of this interview. "I think first things first, we're going to adopt some dogs and take on a little more responsibility in that regard. And that buys me a little time to keep working hard on Loverboy and [try] to create some financial security," Kyle explained. "You know, I think that's what every guy wants to do is kind of, like, support his family. So, I mean, that's kind of what I'm heading down and doing. I don't mind the fact that some of her friends are a little further behind, because that buys me a little time."
After temporarily taking in several dogs last year, Kyle and Amanda announced in February that they had officially adopted the last two pooches they fostered, Ryder and Reese. "Our last fosters that we had, we fostered two puppies, and we fell in love with them. And we just kind of kept holding onto them. And we haven't officially made it official with the rescue, but we will be adding two new members to the family," Amanda told Bravo Insider in January before the adoption was finalized. "They'll be our new fur babies, so we'll be a family in some regard."
Though they initially thought they would start out by adopting just one pup, Amanda and Kyle said that they quickly realized becoming a family of four was the only option. "I love the two of them, but in retrospect, it's kind of like when you foster two with the idea that you might keep one, that door to keep the second is immediately open because you see how much they're there for one another, and then you fall in love with the other," Kyle said. "You know, it's just like, how are you going to pick?"
