How Having Dogs Changed Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula’s Plans To Have Kids
The Winter House couple explained how adopting their dogs was a "turning point" in their marriage.
After a year of marriage, Summer House's Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula are still content with just being parents to their fur babies — for now, anyway.
"The dogs made us realize we're not ready for kids yet," Amanda recently told OK!. "We have so much going on, and we're so busy. With our schedule being packed, we're not ready, but it is a great stepping stone."
Indeed, becoming pet owners ultimately helped the couple "take a step back" from their daily routines and assess exactly how their lives might change if they expanded their family right now. "Kyle's biggest beef with me was that I slept in, but now the dogs have us up by 8 a.m. every single morning," the Winter House cast member joked.
As for her husband, Amanda said that the dogs made "Kyle develop more patience," adding, "I think that has been a great turning point in the marriage."
That hasn't been the only positive either. "They say the more responsibility you have, the more organized and efficient you get," Kyle added in the same joint interview. "I feel like that's a little bit of the case with the dogs — now we have this other responsibility and we're not in the market for more responsibility."
After they celebrated their first wedding anniversary in September, Amanda also joked about the marriage milestone in an interview with Page Six. "I can’t believe we made it!" she quipped. "Anyone that took bets that we wouldn’t make it, they lost, and they owe us money!"
Now that they're getting a parenting crash course from their pets, an actual baby might not be such a gamble either.
