Kyle Cooke Opens Up on Amanda Batula’s “Complicated” Health Issues
The Summer House cast member also shared whether he felt like Ciara Miller overstepped when she went to him to talk about Amanda’s health concerns.
Though Kyle Cooke has said that “summer should be fun,” the Summer House crew went through some difficult times in the Hamptons during filming for Season 7. In addition to Kyle’s issues with his best friend and former colleague, Carl Radke, and the much discussed feud between former close pals Danielle Olivera and Lindsay Hubbard, Amanda Batula also went through some health issues.
During the ladies’ daytime tea party on Episode 3 of Season 7, Amanda opened up about the big question mark surrounding her plans to have kids with Kyle, whom she wed in September 2021.
She told the group she had lost weight after going off birth control the previous fall, and that she hadn’t had her period since. Amanda acknowledged that was she “nervous” to see a doctor because she could receive bad news about her health and fertility.
“You grow up, and you just think that you get married and you get pregnant and you have kids, and everything goes [according to plan],” Amanda said to the other women on the cast (with the exception of Lindsay, who was not at the house that weekend). “I just never thought that I would be in this situation, where there’s a chance [that] it’s not just going to happen immediately and naturally.”
Now Kyle is shedding light on the situation from last summer, and he revealed that Amanda’s health issues were “more complicated” than she may have stated on the show. In addition to losing weight from stopping her birth control, Kyle said that Amanda was also on an acne medication that had the same side effect.
“There’s obviously a lot more to it than what made it into the [show],” Kyle said when he appeared on an episode of Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast. “It breaks my heart.”
Fans will have to tune in to find out what happens in Amanda’s health journey, but Kyle is appreciative of what he’s seen from her friends on Season 7 so far.
“It was tough because she’s going through the weight loss, she’s going through the acne, and oh, by the way, what’s going on with her menstrual cycle and her fertility,” Kyle continued during the podcast. “I’m so glad the girls — it kind of started [the conversation] at that tea brunch.”
Kyle also appreciated that Ciara Miller, who is a nurse, pulled the Loverboy founder aside to ask him to encourage Amanda to see a medical professional.
“I was so thankful for friends like Ciara, who really kind of took her under their wing to start to understand what was going on,” he concluded.
