Why Paige DeSorbo Thinks Craig Conover Would Be “Scared” to Live in New York City
The couple also compared how different the dating scenes are in New York versus Charleston.
Paige DeSorbo and beau Craig Conover reside in two very different cities on the East Coast, and that’s never been more apparent than when the two discussed what it’s like to date in New York City versus Charleston.
The conversation comes during a preview of the May 1 episode of Summer House (which you can watch above). Craig pays a visit to the Big Apple to see Paige and to celebrate the first anniversary of Ciara Miller moving to New York.
When Craig asks Ciara about how her dating life has changed since relocating from Atlanta to Manhattan, he shares why the New York City dating scene isn’t for him.
“[Paige] tells me how she dated in New York, and I was like, ‘That — I would never leave my house,” he says. “She went on dates with people she didn’t know!”
“That’s how a date works!” Ciara points out in response. “In Charleston, they date each other’s girlfriends.”
In an interview, Paige agrees with Ciara, and she hints at how intertwined the love lives of the Southern Charm cast members are.
“In South Carolina, everybody knows each other, and they’ve all dated each other,” Paige explains. “In New York, you could meet some random man on the street, and it could be the love of your life, you have no idea. That’s why you have to go out to drinks with him.”
The conversation at Ciara’s party may have been lighthearted, but it gets Paige wondering about a bigger issue in her relationship with Craig: moving to the same city.
“This is just another example of ‘I don’t know if Craig would really vibe in New York City,” she says. “I think he’d be scared.”
On Summer House Season 7, Craig and Paige have begun to discuss their future together as they approach their first anniversary of dating. Though the two had initially talked about the idea of Paige moving down to Charleston, she got emotional thinking about leaving behind her career, friends, and family during Kyle Cooke’s 40th birthday party.
“I will be changing a lot more than you would be. I will be changing my whole life,” Paige told Craig at the birthday party about moving to the South. “I have no friends in Charleston, I don’t know anyone, and my whole career is there [in New York].”
Craig did offer to move to New York instead, but Paige had her doubts about how well he would fit in. However, during an April 10 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Paige agreed when host Andy Cohen said he thought Craig “is gonna wind up moving to New York.”
“I think so too,” Paige said, though it remains to be seen what the two will decide to do.
