Shahs of Sunset's MJ Admits to Holding Out on Reza About Joining The Traitors
Guess who Mercedes "MJ" Javid didn't tell about getting cast in this season's The Traitors?
Mercedes "MJ" Javid is already making herself known in Season 2 of Peacock's hit reality competition series, The Traitors. In the premiere episodes, the former Shahs of Sunset cast member quickly set her sights on sniffing out the fellow contestants in the cast who she deemed shady, which in turn made the actual Traitors mighty nervous.

As a contestant in the show's new all-celebrity format, MJ is amongst plenty of familiar reality TV faces, including cast from the Real Housewives franchise to Love Island players. However, the most interesting factoid is that she follows in the footsteps of her Shahs co-star Reza Farahan, who was a contestant in the inaugural season of The Traitors.
Did Mercedes "MJ" Javid get any of Reza's The Traitors insight?
In a recent video interview with Decider, Javid was asked what advice she sought from Farahan about his time on the first season of the show. Looking a little guilty, she replied, "I didn't tell Reza until I was at the airport."

If you haven't watched The Traitors before, that might seem like a major diss from one friend to another. However, if you did watch the season, then you're aware that Farahan didn't exactly assimilate well when it came to the interpersonal dynamics that are key to having any success on the show. He was a big personality in the initial team competitions, which rubbed some the wrong way. And ultimately, the Traitors murdered him in Episode 2, "Buried Alive."
Javid said in the rest of the interview that she and Farahan are good friends and that he's always happy for her success. "But he was like, "Yeah, I already saw the press release...thanks for telling me.'"
How is MJ and Reza's friendship today?
At the most recent BravoCon 2023 event in November, Javid and Farahan reunited for a Shahs of Sunset panel where the pair were nothing but thrilled to be reunited again.
During the panel, Javid said about Farahan, "My favorite thing is like, the way that we come together when we talk, it feels so good," she admitted. "The heart wants what the heart wants." He agreed and said, “MJ and I are tight."
Having already survived the first three episodes of Season 2, surely Farahan is cheering on MJ's mission to smoke out the first Traitor this season. It would certainly ensure a bit of Shahs of Sunset-style redemption for his early ousting.
MJ can currently be seen on Peacock's The Traitors, which premiered in January 2024. New episodes of The Traitors Season 2 premiere every Thursday. Episodes are available to stream on Peacock alongside The Traitors: Postmortem after show.
