Thomas Ravenel: Kathryn C. Dennis and I Had a Baby!
Exclusive: The Southern Charm star tells all about their newborn daughter.
On the first season of Southern Charm, fans have watched the complicated romantic relationship between Thomas Ravenel and Kathryn C. Dennis unfold: they've faced a pregnancy scare and dealt with Kathryn's flings with stars Shepard "Shep" Rose and Whitney Sudler-Smith.
But now that production for the show has wrapped, Thomas is ready to come clean with some big news: he and Kathryn are the proud parents of a baby girl!
"It's really a blessing," he tells the Dish exclusively. "It's one of the greatest creations one could ever hope to be apart of!"
Born March 24th in West Palm Beach, Florida, Kensington Calhoun Ravenel is a happy and beaming bundle of joy, according to Thomas. "She smiles a lot and there are a lot of little firsts there," he says. "She's got a combination of both our temperaments. But I think she's got Kathryn's eyes and my coloration."
Thomas, 51, is also happy to report that Kathryn, 22, is quickly adapting to her new role as a mother. "She has tremendous motherly instincts," he says. "She's been constantly reading books about babies and doing her homework. She is all over her new responsibilities. She has the energy and the mindset to make sure the baby is well taken care of. I've really grown to respect and admire her."

After learning last year that Kathryn's pregnancy surprise turned out to be false, Thomas says he and Kathryn knew "absolutely" that they wanted to start a family together. "I'm getting on in my age and I wanted a child," he says. "And after we had wrapped up shooting in Charleston, we had both decided we wanted to have a baby for real. We both love each other and care about each other, so we said, 'Let's do this!'"
Thomas and Kathryn, who are unmarried, may come from conservative Southern families—she's a descendant of the seventh Vice President John C. Calhoun—but Thomas says their parents are ecstatic with the new addition. "Her family came down immediately [when the baby was born]," Thomas says. "And my parents are going to meet her today for the first time. And they're just thrilled!"
But does this mean the happy parents are going to tie the knot? "We've been talking about it," he says. "Eventually I'd like to get married. All I can say is stay tuned."
For now, Thomas and Kathryn are happy to enjoy time with their daughter—and adjusting to some new routines. "Kathryn is a bit sleep deprived," he says. "And Kensington is starting to make her needs known—I need ear plugs! But everyone's healthy and happy and we're just blessed."
Share your congratulations for the parents in the comments—and tune in to the Southern Charm season finale Monday, April 21st at 10/9c.
