Ubah Hassan Reveals Her Real Thoughts on Brynn Whitfield's "Boring" Ex-Fiancé Gideon
Gideon Lang-Laddie is Brynn Whitfield's third ex-fiancé, a real estate agent with a background on Wall Street.
The Real Housewives of New York City’s Ubah Hassan knows a thing or two about hotness, so it may be worth listening to her thoughts about a certain cast member’s old flame.
The Somalian model and UBAH HOT founder appeared on the September 10, 2023 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen alongside British comedian and writer London Hughes to talk about all things Real Housewives.
Ubah then got candid on the WWHL After Show when a viewer asked for her thoughts on Brynn Whitfield’s ex, Gideon Lang-Laddie.

Ubah told the viewer, “If she’s smart, she will get with that man,” agreeing with Andy's comment that the pair should “lock it up.”

“I think he’s great,” Ubah continued.
She said that while Gideon might be boring, “boring is good” for someone like Brynn, suggesting that opposites attract.
“She’s a fun one,” Ubah contended. “Like, you can’t be the same people.”
Hughes agreed with Ubah’s desire to see the “consciously uncoupled” pair get back together.
Then, when touching on her podcast, London Actually, Hughes cited Ubah as the number one Bravolebrity she’d have to be her personal matchmaker.
“I think you can actually help me find love,” Hughes said to Ubah.
As for Ubah herself? Well, earlier on WWHL, Ubah admitted she was “very much in love and content” in her own romantic relationship, though she did not elaborate any further.
Brynn and Gideon’s Relationship, Explained
The much-talked-about Gideon is Brynn’s third ex-fiancé, though he still seems to be a considerable presence in the socialite’s life. The exes — who’d spent five years as a couple — previously had plans to spend the Thanksgiving holiday away in London.
Brynn joined her dapper and British ex in RHONY Season 14, Episode 7, when Gideon – a collector of classic (and expensive) cars — shopped for his next whip.
She told RHONY producers that Gideon gave a spectacular wedding proposal outside the Ritz-Carlton during sunset, with a beautiful rendition of The Proclaimers’ “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” playing and Brynn’s pet dog in attendance.

The catch? Brynn was seeing another man, though she ultimately agreed to marry Gideon instead.
“He’s literally a Prince Charming,” Brynn said. “I didn’t open a door for five years. I didn’t pick up one tab. I can’t even stand up at a dinner table without him jumping up.”
When recalling how they met through the Tinder dating app, Gideon said, “My recollection is that you were the most beautiful person I’d ever seen in my life.”
In the end, Brynn said she was walking down Manhattan’s 57th Street, caught her reflection (with Gideon’s “massive” and "stupid beautiful" engagement ring), and panicked.
“’Cause I see myself as little Brynn with the little afro, like, I didn’t see myself as someone’s wife,” she said. “I wasn’t ready.”
Ubah isn’t the first RHONY cast member to give her seal of approval for “the Disney Prince,” either. Sai De Silva previously called Gideon “such a sweet, sweet guy” who looked at Brynn with “stars in his eyes.” In RHONY Season 14, Episode 3, Erin Lichy also said she wished Brynn and Gideon would get back together, referring to him as a “nice Jewish guy” who was “so cute.”
Brynn said in a previous episode of WWHL she and Gideon had a 25% chance of getting back together.
Who is Gideon Lang-Laddie?
Gideon comes from London and “brings over 20 years of finance and Wall Street experience” to The Agency, the real estate firm founded by The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Mauricio Umansky, according to their website.
The Royal Agricultural University graduate moved to New York in 2000 and began a career on Wall Street, working in a handful of leading firms in New York, London, and Los Angeles. On Wall Street, alongside BNP Paribas, he “sales-traded pan-European equities to U.S. and Canadian institutions, having previously covered asset managers predominantly in Switzerland and England,” per The Agency.
He reportedly moved to Beverly Hills in 2015 and headed investor relations for a private but global firm. On the West Coast, he obtained his real estate license to “extend his skillset accordingly.”
When not selling homes, Gideon plays polo — training annually in Argentina — and enjoys a handful of fun hobbies, including fencing, fly fishing, and wine. He collects classic cars and founded Prostate1000, a charity created in 2009 to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer.
Here’s hoping he and Brynn, who has jokingly referred to herself as a “trophy wife in training,” can each find a happily ever after.
