One Vanderpump Rules Producer Reveals the Most Challenging Part of Filming the Show
This Vanderpump Rules insider is spilling the pumptinis.
Vanderpump Rules kicked off its eighth season on the air this past Tuesday (January 7) — on the same exact date it premiered back in 2013. The series has followed Lisa Vanderpump and her SURvers as they lived, loved, and, occasionally, argued in the back alley at SUR over the years.
These days there are fewer OGs taking shifts at SUR, but the excitement around the series has hardly dulled when fans do show up to the restaurant. And while fans might think it's the cast's penchant for antics and drama that may make shooting the series difficult, one producer shared with The Hollywood Reporter what the real challenge is during production.
"Customers want to see the cast working, but what they most want to see is the crew shooting while the cast is working," showrunner Bill Langworthy told The Hollywood Reporter when discussing the shoot season for Vanderpump Rules. "You can ask them, 'Maybe put your phone down?' but they don't. They physically can't."
Langworthy was one of the producers at BravoCon who spoke about his work on the series. Among the buzzy topics was when it feels right to break the fourth wall: "I think it should be done as little as possible," Langworthy said at BravoCon 2019. "I think as much as people can get lost in the story, the better."

Still, times have changed. Season 8 doesn't just include the lives of the original crew of SURvers, who have grown-up tremendously since fans met them all those years ago, but also a new batch of waiters, waitresses, and bartenders all employed by LVP — not only at SUR, but also at TomTom, the hotspot she co-owns with Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz.
And fans can tune into it all every Tuesday at 9/8c. Preview what's to come, below.
