Below Deck Sailing Yacht Producer Reveals What Crew Members Get Paid
TheParsifal III yachties get to take home more than just charter guest tips.
On Below Deck Sailing Yacht, the crew works incredibly hard to give charter guests the most amazing luxury getaways. The charter guests then show their appreciation at the end of their time on the yacht with a tip, which gets evenly divided among the whole crew. However, that isn't the only payment the Parsifal III crew members receive on Below Deck Sailing Yacht.
Below Deck Sailing Yacht executive producer Jill Goslicky revealed what the crew members get paid during an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit on March 1, which also featured Captain Glenn Shephard and first mate Gary King. "They get paid in a few different ways," Goslicky said. "They do get a salary for being hired as part of the yacht crew, they do get to keep their tips, and they do get a production fee."
Goslicky also confirmed during the Reddit AMA that "the guests are actually paying for their vacations."
Mark Cronin, who is an executive producer of all three Below Deck franchises, shared a similar sentiment about who pays to charter the yacht during an interview with The Daily Dish in 2020, confirming that the guests "spend their real money to be on the show." "And then the tip they leave, they decide what it is," he said.
Though the tips left by the guests aren't always what the crew was expecting, given the level of service they provided during the charter, Captain Lee Rosbach said that the gratuities have gotten better since the early days of Below Deck, noting that there were some particularly "good ones" in the most recent Season 8. "I’m not sure exactly what the catalyst is; I just hope it doesn’t quit," Captain Lee said during an exclusive interview with Bravo Insider earlier this year. "And I'm very grateful for it."
