When Patricia Altschul found herself suffering from the flu and needed to host a charity dinner, she knew exactly who to call on: her two boys, real son Whitney Sudler-Smith (who is recovering from a recent rotator cuff surgery) and surrogate son Shep Rose. And luckily, the Southern Charm pals were on hand to show everyone a good time.

How to Watch

Watch Southern Charm on Bravo Thursdays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo App.

"My friend and second mom [Patricia] attended a @specialolympicssc event a while back and decided to auction off a cocktail party at her house. Thousands were raised. Unfortunately she got the flu and called me and [Whitney] to come in her stead. We’re admittedly a B team compared to her. But enjoyed getting to meet everyone for a good cause. #specialolympics," Shep shared on Instagram, along with a group photo from the night.

And while Patricia wasn't there, she was in spirit — and ever the gracious host, thanked the guys for the assist.

"Thanks to [Shep] and [Whitney] for hosting this lovely and generous group at the Isaac Jenkins Mikell house tonight. Several months ago I auctioned off a cocktail party to benefit @specialolympicssc which raised thousands of dollars for this amazing organization. Unfortunately, I came down with the flu (yes I got my flu shot) but these great guys stepped in for me. #specialolympics," she wrote on Instagram.
