Here's the Surprising Reason Kyle Cooke Almost Wasn't Cast on Summer House

It's kind of hard to imagine Summer House without Kyle Cooke; after all, he's been on since Episode 1. But that was very nearly the case, we just learned from Senior Vice President of Current Production Noah Samton — and the reason why he almost didn't make the cut will shock you, if you know Kyle at all.
"We met probably six months before shooting started, something like that," Noah said of meeting Kyle in an interview with The Daily Dish podcast. "Kyle doesn't know this: So I was meeting all the potential cast members and a few others as we're trying to finalize exactly who it's going to be. And I meet Kyle and he's the guy who's connected to everybody, right, so everyone knows him the best. He's sort of the central figure in the cast. And he came in and he told me a little of what he just said to you guys: 'My job is really important to me; work is what matters. I don't watch a lot of TV; I don't know what this is about.' I talked to him for a couple of hours and I was like, this guy does not seem like he's any fun at all."
In fact, Noah revealed, "I actually said, I don't know if we should cast him. But he's so connected to everybody and I was like, he's handsome."
Kyle, who was also in the interview alongside Noah, had to laugh at that. But Kyle has a reason he may have come off that way: "He met Monday-through-Friday Kyle," he reasoned. (As Summer House fans know, weekend Kyle is very different from weekday Kyle.)
You see, the entrepreneur was in full business mode. "I went into casting and it was basically all business. I'm just like, this is who I am. It reminded me of business school because I kind of caught wind that you guys, Matt and Scott, were like, Kyle, they're not quite understanding the 'Play Hard' Kyle because everyone talks about the 'Play Hard' Kyle but all we're getting is the 'Work Hard' Kyle in our various casting interviews. And so I was like, well, come interview me on the weekend. I don't know what to tell you," he said. And the rest was history!
