Andy Cohen Shares His Thoughts (Again) on Bravo Stars Not Getting Prenups
The WWHL host revealed what he really thinks of Bravolebrities deciding not to get prenups ahead of tying the knot.
There’s no question that the topic of prenuptial agreements has been a buzzy one among Bravolebs over the years. From Summer House’s Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula to The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Teresa Giudice and her fiancé, Luis “Louie” Ruelas, more than a few conversations have come up between couples across the Bravo universe regarding the (sometimes) touchy subject of signing a prenuptial agreement.
As Bravo fans have seen, the prenup discussion has caused quite a bit of drama between several couples in the past. Who can forget the time Kandi Burruss got her prenup with Todd Tucker only days before their wedding, which not only resulted in tension between The Real Housewives of Atlanta couple but also led to Kandi’s mom, Mama Joyce Jones, voicing her concerns about the couple’s finances.
And there was that moment when Million Dollar Listing New York alum Fredrik Eklund’s talk about having a prenup with his fiancé, Derek Kaplan, who disputed the notion, almost led to the cancellation of their 2013 wedding.
More recently, the subject of a prenup resulted in issues between Kyle and Amanda, but — as the Summer House couple later revealed to host Andy Cohen during the Season 6 reunion — they had decided not to sign a prenup prior to their wedding, with Amanda saying, in part, “There is such a stigma around it. It’s always been, like, a negative thing,” to which Andy replied, “I don’t think it’s negative.”
The reunion host went on to underscore the notion of considering a prenup due to the pair’s involvement in the drink company Loverboy, saying, “But when there’s a business involved, isn’t that smart for the business?”
This, of course, isn’t the first time Andy has been vocal about his views on prenups. In fact, the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host recently shared exactly where he stands on the subject at NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation on Monday, May 16.
“I think everyone should get a prenup,” Andy said, adding, “I want all Bravolebrities to get prenups.”
And Andy has previously mentioned as much to OG Jersey Housewife Teresa, who shared on WWHL that she and Louie had no plans for a prenup ahead of their wedding. She later wouldn't confirm their decision to sign one during the RHONJ Season 12 reunion, saying, “It’s nobody’s business."
He later doubled down on his comments to Teresa, saying, “I’m telling you that I would like it if you would consider signing a prenup. That’s all I’m saying.”
Another OG Housewife has echoed Andy’s opinion on the matter, making no secret of her feelings on the topic of prenups. Andy additionally noted during the RHONJ Season 12 reunion how The Real Housewives of New York City alum Bethenny Frankel had thoughts on the subject, as she previously tweeted, “I may jump through my phone if [Teresa] doesn’t sign a prenup, [Andy].”
