Let's Break Down Cardi B's Expletive-Filled Twitter War Over "Nonsense" Detox Tea
Does Cardi B actually consume the drink she's promoting — and does it make her "s--t her pants" in public?
Cardi B's meteoric pop success has brought with it a slew of endorsement deals (money moves, you might say) — including her own clothing line for Fashion Nova that sold out in a snap and a gig pushing a brand of detox tea called Teami.
"Teami really helped me in the process of losing my baby weight," she said on a recent video posted to Instagram. Cardi gave birth to daughter Kulture four months ago. "I actually lost more weight than I wanted to... No, bitch, I didn't get lipo," she joked.
But does she really drink Teami? Jameela Jamil, an actress who appears in the NBC series The Good Place, doesn't seem to think so, and called Cardi out in multiple tweets.
“They got Cardi B on the laxative nonsense 'detox' tea," Jameela wrote, according to People. "GOD I hope all these celebrities all s--t their pants in public, the way the poor women who buy this nonsense upon their recommendation do,” she wrote.
Cardi didn't respond on Twitter, but she appeared to address Jameela's tweets in a comment left on an Instagram post.
"I will never s--t my pants cause there’s public bathrooms… oooo and bushes,” she wrote, adding a crying/laughing emoji.
Jameela's turn to tweet: “She will never s--t her pants, not because of bushes, but because she probably doesn’t ever take the products she promotes… during her promotional video she keeps looking at the name of the product on the cup… almost as if she’s never seen it."
Jameela advised people not to drink detox teas, saying, "You need fiber! Not something that honestly just makes you have diarrhea the day you take it and constipates you in the long run.”
“I was the teenager who starved herself for years, who spent all her money on these miracle cures and laxatives and tips from celebrities on how to maintain a weight that was lower than what my body wanted it to be,” she revealed in another tweet. “I was sick, I have had digestion and metabolism problems for life.”
