Clinton Kelly Was Planning a Major Change When The Chew Got Cancelled

Former The Chew co-host Clinton Kelly encountered rather unfortunate timing.

Call it Murphy's Law...

The Chew's former co-hosts reunited in Clinton Kelly's own kitchen for a nearly hourlong Facebook Live. In the segment, Kelly, Carla Hall, and Michael Symon provided fans an intimate look at exactly what's been going on in their personal and professional lives in the year since they were colleagues on the show.

Kelly shared his professional projects — as well as his idyllic life as a fastidious "stay-at-home house husband." And when his former colleagues remarked on his attractive kitchen, he explained that it was part of a much larger project underway in his home when The Chew was cancelled one year ago as sexual assault allegations against Mario Batali continued to mount.

"This is how life goes. This happens to me all the time," he playfully set up his memory of May 2018. "I sign a contract to completely turn the loft apartment into a two-bedroom apartment… and then the next day, The Chew gets cancelled. "Happens to me every time! Literally every time."

But nevertheless, the project is coming together. "I did put new faces on the cabinetry," he said of the kitchen, which was on full display in the Facebook Live segment. "I turned my loft into a two bedroom, but it’s not decorated yet so I didn’t want anybody to look at it." (So far, the Facebook post has 77,000 views.)
