Jay-Z is Now a Billionaire, Thanks in Part to His Stake in 2 Booze Brands (Do You Know What They Are?)
Jay-Z has been super successful with his music career, as you know. But the mogul also has a hand in other boozier ventures.
Here's news worth toasting: Jay-Z is the first hip-hop mogul to become a billionaire. According to a recent report from Forbes, the "99 Problems" rapper has amassed his wealth, in part, through strategic investments. And among those investments are stakes in two liquor brands — do you know what Jay-Z's liquor brands are?
OK, we won't keep you in suspense forever. Jay-Z owns 100 percent of the Armand de Brignac champagne label, and Forbes estimated that bubbly venture is worth $310 million. By the way, if you're not familiar with that particular type of champagne, rewatch the video for "Show Me What You've Got," in which its golden bottle makes a cameo.
Here are a few other things to know about the champers: It's said to have "hints of baked pastry, vanilla, and toastiness," and it's not cheap. If you pick up a bottle on Wine.com, it'll set you back $300.
Additionally, Jay-Z is also part-owner of cognac D’Ussé, which is a joint venture with Bacardi that's estimated to be worth $100 million. This type of cognac is unique in that it's made to be used as a cocktail ingredient (but, of course, it can also be sipped neat). Cheers to Jay!
