Kentucky Fried Chicken Is Releasing Its Own Chicken Sandwich — with a Very Intense Twist
KFC is getting involved in the #ChickenWars, and bringing its own kind of secret weapon.
We hereby interrupt our Mystery Oreos coverage to bring you the latest from another hot topic in the food world. We're talking, of course, about #ChickenWars, which has seen fast-food chains Chick-fil-A and Popeyes competing for the unofficial title of world's best chicken-sandwich maker. Now, Kentucky Fried Chicken is preparing to enter the battle — and it's bringing in a secret weapon.
The chain is testing its own chicken sandwich at several locations. Now, when you think of a KFC chicken sandwich, you're probably picturing fried chicken held between two fluffy biscuits. Think again, folks, because this sammy actually uses glazed doughnuts as its bread.
That's right: KFC's spin on the hot-ticket meal, which is currently being sold in Virginia and Pittsburgh, wedges a chicken filet into two sticky treats, and it's going for $6.
So far, the Twittersphere has mixed feelings on this tempting (or off-putting) concoction. Perhaps this tweet sums it up best:
"This looks disgusting where can I try it?"
