Prince Harry and his pregnant bride Meghan Markle have made a new home at Frogmore Cottage, the 19th century estate on the grounds of Windsor Castle. And while they await the birth of their new baby, they are said to be making a particular tweak to the centuries-old property — that is both in keeping with history and tradition, and decidedly very modern at the same time.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex intend to install an organic vegetable plot within the gardens of their new home, sources tell Daily Mail. They plan to grow their own herbs, fruit, and vegetables to contribute as much food as possible to their family’s daily diet.

The reported addition of the vegetable garden is very much in keeping with the Duchess’ well-known lifestyle preference. “Growing up in southern California,” she said before her days as a royal — when she blogged at The Tig. “I loved gardening and growing my own vegetables. That farm-to-table ethos was ingrained at such a young age.”

And no matter that she is a royal now, Markle still cooks for herself and Prince Harry daily.
