Melissa Joan Hart Has Never Tried Keto, But MCT Oil Helped Her Lose Weight — What Is That?

Melissa Joan Hart is big into fitness, so when she appeared on PEOPLE Live, the hosts were quick to ask her about health trends — including the ever-controversial Keto diet. 

 "I haven't done Keto. I did go with a friend to pick her up from an endoscopy when the doctor said no more, you can't do it anymore, because it's causing acid reflux," she answered. Well, Hart clearly falls into the camp of celebs who think the popular diet is "dumb." But there is another foodie trend she's feeling these days. 

"I have started putting MCT oil in my water, which I love," the actress spilled. "I have a little bit in my trailer, and I put it in my tea."

When asked what she loves about the oil — which is a supplement that contains medium-chain triglycerides — Hart responded: "It fires up my metabolism I think. I lost a little bit of weight right away, and like just a few pounds, but I was able to keep it off and it gives you an energy, too, and it keeps the cravings away. It's a natural coconut oil."   

And if you're worried how that would work in water, coffee, or tea, rest assured: "It's totally tasteless," Hart said.
