Finding Ms. Right
Ayinde talks about his 'Matchmaker' experience!
I am really grateful that Bravo gave me an opportunity to blog my experience from the show. I had a blast! If you were to tell me a year ago, I would have had the chance to link up with Patti so she could find my dream woman on national television, I wouldn't have believed you! But, that's what happened and I'd like to tell you how it all came about!
I moved to Los Angeles in 2000 to play professional beach volleyball; a childhood dream. After working 9 to 5 in an office as a top sales person for radio advertising, I started to feel a bit like Neo in my desire to want something greater. I was doing well financially and enjoying what I did. I loved selling advertising, helping small businesses get their messages out, reaching millions of people with ads that I created. However, I could feel something inside calling me to stretch outside of my comfort zone.
Unfortunately, walking away from a great job and playing beach volleyball was not anywhere in the, "How to Marry" manual. Neither was it in the manual to start-up a company. Nonetheless, in 2009, I reached a place where I knew my business was on track for success, I had developed more spirituality and began looking around at all my married friends with kids, and sought Patti's expertise. I truly believed she could help me find that special woman who was ready to build a life of intimacy, creativity, health and abundance.
At the very least, I thought the transformative technology I created with Hitch Radio would get the exposure needed to inform an interested audience who might like to use it. A lot of people have asked me about Hitch Radio, and want to know more about my company. Hitch Radio is a search box for live broadcasts and it's the easiest way to hear your favorite music, DJ's and radio talk shows anywhere in the world. Ultimately, it's what you would get if you could combine Google, Sirius XM Radio and Facebook. You can try it by invitation only during the preview period [beta launch] by going to www.hitchradio.com.
Meeting Patti was a big surprise. In every episode of the show that I had seen, she was yelling at the bachelors to get their acts together. I guess I didn't want to be yelled at, so I listened closely to her advice. Even to the point of going to her "Spiritual Psychotherapist," Dr. Nicki. And I am glad I did. Because of Dr. Nicki's comforting and grounded vibe, I forgot the cameras where even in the room with us. She let me feel right at home and got to the core of my hesitancy for commitment in lightning fast speed. I felt a little like Robert DeNiro in Analyze That! She was right on and very caring.
Armed with Patti's advice and Dr. Nicki's guidance, I was ready for my date. Walking in the room was pretty overwhelming. In a business setting, I am very comfortable holding court. But, I must admit, during the social I was in favor of the more intimate audiences. I didn't want anyone to feel like they were not important or miss the opportunity to meet Ms. Right in the controlled chaos of the mixer. I didn't want to talk at the ladies. I wanted to find out as much as possible from as many as possible. I was serious about finding someone who was open minded, warm, successful, genuine and intelligent.
The funny thing is that I had a tough time choosing Joslyn. She was the first to catch my eye, but in Hollywood, there are a lot of women who are beautiful. I wanted to see if she was willing to offer more than just her beauty. After all, I come from a family of beautiful, accomplished and intelligent women. The bar is high! After the mini-date, I felt confident that Joslyn was the right match and that she would have the most fun on the date I had planned.
I was right. We had a ball on the helicopter ride! I like to be a kid, too, and Joslyn was cool with that part of my personality (a big plus). Since the show Joslyn and I have kept in touch and seen each other a few times. She is a beautiful, kind-hearted, family-oriented and success-minded young woman. Will we see each other again? I doubt it. However, she was the best helicopter date I could have had, and I am grateful for having had the opportunity to get to know her better.
Overall, the show was one of the best experiences of my life; really. The entire production crew is the best in the business from the production assistants to the top brass producers. As for Patti.... Well, I can tell you one thing: she (and her awesome team) was one of my favorite parts of the experience! She was so great to work with! She is straightforward and to the point; fun and funny! She is extremely professional and always working! I wish her all the best with her new marriage. Right now, she is working on a couple other young women that she believes may be even better suited for me. I trust her wisdom, and look forward to see what the future holds.
