Learning to Love the Spotlight
Rachel shares how she deals with the mounting need to be in front of the camera.
Even though I am most comfortable behind-the-camera, representing my brand often requires me to step out of my comfort zone and put my face out there -- literally. Working with Jockey involved me appearing on a building-sized billboard, which was so surreal for me to see! I'm so happy that Mandana took me to see it in person -- I might have been too scared to see it otherwise!
Even though I think I might never be totally comfortable in the spotlight -- having Rodger by my side in those moments is so encouraging. Receiving a thank you note from the President of the United States isn't a bad reminder that I'm doing something right either!
I am constantly juggling several hats, so when jobs like styling an ELLE editorial for Joe Zee comes up, I jump at the chance to do them. Working with models and styling looks for magazine shoots is what I love and where it all started for me. It's always gets me going creatively.
The Jockey shoot was a marathon of a day. Even though it took me a bit to get in the swing of things, once I started winging it, everything fell into place. Luckily, deciding how to wear my bangs was the biggest issue of the day. Jockey and their entire team are MAJ!
