Kandi Burruss isn't taking any chances in 2021. On the first day of the new year, The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member nibbled on some goodies thought to bring in good luck. But this time — unlike at Thanksgiving — the singer didn't cook the feast herself.

Standing in her kitchen on January 1, Kandi told her Instagram followers: "I am relaxing on my New Year's Day, and I just got me some collard greens and black eyed peas from Old Lady GangBecause — you know my superstition — you have to have collard greens and black eyed peas on New Year's Day, every year. I have to."

The restaurant owner went on to explain: "Black eyed peas [are] for luck, collard greens for the money. Gotta get to the money, and the luck, all year long, OK? All them blessings, all right?"

We can't disagree. So, here's Kandi's RX for blessings: "Anywhere in the world, try to get you some black eyed peas and collard greens," she recommended. "That's just an old superstition, I guess, that my family has, and I know a lot of people [do] ... If you're in Atlanta you can go get some from Old Lady Gang."
