Denise Richards surely made a splash on her first season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. It's hard to not feel as if we know her personally from her candid moments and very open discussions about her sex life to her heartbreaking parenting admissions. When she wanted fries in Bermuda we said same, when she wanted tequila during a particularly rough L.A. dinner we said same, and when the ladies in the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show discussed why they were so happy she joined, we also said same.
But what is it about her that makes her seem so relatable and like a friend we all know (or want)? Here's some of what the ladies say — watch the clip above to see the rest — plus, learn how it can relate to our own friendships.
Kyle praised Denise for not only being really sweet, but also for being uncensored. "Some of the things that have come out of her mouth... I thought I would die laughing."
Friends who are open about their lives and natural entertainers are simply just super fun to be around. Whether they're talking about their partner's penis size or about getting joint happy ending massages, there's that combination of hilarity with a lot of o-m-g moments that leave absolutely zero dull moments. This is the friend you call when you need advice that you may think you're too embarrassed to ask anyone other than Google.
She's very unapologetic.
If you need someone to tell it to you straight, you want an unapologetic friend who will keep things real with you... instead of saying what she thinks you want to hear, or being overly worried about hurting your feelings. This lack of calculation is important when you just need a blunt take — and know not to take it personally if you don't agree.
"She doesn’t give a shit, she really doesn’t," Dorit said about Denise, adding that it’s “consistent” and “fun.”
When someone candidly discusses their lives (even the tough stuff), it comes across as authentic and relatable... even if it's nothing like our own experiences. And when we see Denise rescuing pets and talking about raising her special needs daughter as a single mom, it's impossible to not feel for her. These are the genuine friends who you want to keep around for life, and know will have your back in a pinch.
She does not take herself seriously.
Erika clued us in to the fact that Denise seems to be the same person, whether the cameras are rolling or not. "I never found her pushing or trying to perform; I never felt that from her."
Well, anyone who can plan a wedding in two weeks seems to be the opposite of high maintenance. This friend isn't afraid to get goofy with you or worry about how what she's saying or doing looks to the rest of the world.
