What Is an Infrared Sauna, and Why Do Housewives Love It?
Here's everything you need to know about the sauna #RHOBH ladies can't live without.
As Kathryn Edwards showed the rest of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills around her San Diego condo, she casually pointed out her infrared sauna, which Erika Girardi also has and Lisa Rinna desperately wants. But what is an infrared sauna, and what makes it so great? Joanna Vargas, celebrity facialist and founder of Joanna Vargas Salon and Skincare Collection, revealed why this special room is so beloved in Beverly Hills--and beyond.
"LED light therapy uses red and infrared light to reduce inflammation, build collagen and speed the healing of the body," says Vargas. "It’s a great instant glow and the long-term benefits are lessening of lines on the face, thickening of the skin and overall healthy glowing skin."
The Real Housewives have a history of going to great lengths in the name of younger skin, so it makes sense that they would spend the big bucks to make it a permanent fixture in their home
Another amazing benefit of the infrared sauna? It can help with weight loss. According to Vargas, it can help burn up to 600 calories in one sitting!
Don't have the space or money to bring this sauna into your home? Many salons have their own LED light beds and infrared saunas, including Vargas', where you can get 20 minutes for $150. No word yet on how many treatments it takes to make you feel like a Beverly Hills 'Wife.
