Denise Richards Opens up About the Recent Changes to Her Diet
After cutting out gluten, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member has made another big dietary change.
After what she describes as "years" of vegetarianism, Denise Richards has made some big changes to her daily diet.
"One day not that long ago I started eating a little more like protein and it actually felt good," The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member told Women's Health. "I felt like I was full in a healthy way."
While family dinners often include "a big salad, steamed asparagus, or sautéed Brussels sprouts," Denise also enjoys whipping up meat and fish. "I love to cook. I'll roast a chicken and yellow potatoes with carrots," she said. "We like good meat, good steaks. I actually have had some shipped from New York for us. I love salmon and halibut, too."
Although she admits she isn't always able to have lunch, when she does eat the midday meal, it's often "a big salad and some protein, like grilled salmon or chicken."
Denise opened up about another big dietary change last year when she cut out gluten amid health concerns. "It’s amazing to me in a short time eliminating gluten from my diet how much my thyroid has changed," she wrote at the time. "A few of you pointed out after the #RHOBH reunion that my thyroid was enlarged. You were right, it was something I ignored until pointed out. I had no idea how much our diet really can affect our body and for me how toxic gluten really is."
Now, it seems Denise's diet is all about moderation. "I would say 90 percent of my diet is gluten-free and I definitely do notice the difference," she told Women's Health. "I grew up in the Midwest, and we ate meat, potatoes, and pasta, so I enjoy all of that."
While Denise admits "it is definitely hard finding a gluten-free [pasta] that tastes like real like pasta and not gross," Women's Health notes that some of her favorites include Signature Select gluten free spaghetti, Tinkyada Pasta Joy brown rice shells, and Annie's deluxe rich & creamy gluten free shells & Cheddar.
