8 Real Housewives Reveal How Long It *Actually* Takes to Do Glam
Real Housewives from Beverly Hills, Potomac, New Jersey, and more dished on the exact amount of time they need for hair and makeup.
If any group of women knows a thing or two about hair and makeup, it’s the Real Housewives. Lavish parties, tea-spilling interviews, and days filled with drama have given the ladies countless opportunities to get gussied up. And if you’ve ever wondered just how long it takes some of the ’Wives to do their glam, we’ve got the answers. Eight ladies across different franchises sat down with each other for Bravo Insider’s Housewife to Housewife, and they all shared insight into how long they typically spend in the hair and makeup chair. The consensus? Glam usually takes around two hours, but we’ll let them share the details in their own words.
When Candiace Dillard Bassett chatted with Sutton Stracke, The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member gave The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills boutique owner the most “amazing” beauty tip ever (watch the video above to see) before the women got real about the amount of time they allot for hair and makeup. “I do two hours and I hate it,” Sutton said. “It’s my hair that is the hardest.” Candiace agreed: “For me, it does take about two hours. But no, I think now I hate makeup and hair. I don’t like it anymore. I’d rather sleep.”
Dolores Catania’s beauty routine wasn’t too far off from what Candiace and Sutton said. The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member laughs in the video below as she realizes she is “not done with [her] glam yet” and explains to Robyn Dixon that it takes her “a couple hours” to get ready. The Real Housewives of Potomac mom’s personal estimate was even higher. “I always think I only need two hours, but it ends up being three,” Robyn revealed.
Luann de Lesseps likes to make her time in the chair quick. “I’m not that fussy glam girl,” The Real Housewives of New York City countess says in the clip below, noting it usually takes her an hour to an hour and a half to get ready. “Unless it’s a cabaret show, then glam takes time,” Luann clarified to her shoot partner from The Real Housewives of Potomac, Karen Huger. The Grande Dame, on the other hand, always ensures her beauty schedule “doesn’t inconvenience [her] cast members.” Karen went on to explain, “Whenever I’m on camera-ready mode, it takes me two hours.”
During Alexia Echevarria and Teresa Giudice’s sit-down, which you can watch below, the ladies learned they had a lot more in common than they thought in terms of both life and beauty. “If I do hair and makeup simultaneously, it’ll take me like an hour and a half at most,” The Real Housewives of Miami cast member shared. While it takes The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member closer to two hours to get glammed up, she did note that she also likes to have her hair and makeup done in unison.
