Hurricane Sandy's Devastation

Adriana's heart goes out to the families of all those affected.

By Adriana De Moura

As I'm writing you these words from the comfort of my home while listening to my son strumming his guitar in the background, I realize how lucky and how blessed I'm to be here, dry and safe, and how we can many times take the smallest things for granted -- such as sitting on a warm, dry coach and sipping a hot cup of tea, while listening to our children play.

This makes me think of all those families that were affected by Hurricane Sandy, and my heart and my thoughts go to those suffering from the profound devastation of this terrible storm. As an always altruistic person, I choose to believe in the resilience of the communities affected by the storm's unfathomable aftermath, and sincerely hope they will get the help they need to rebuild their lives.

Humbled and grateful is how I feel right now, even though Joanna shouted out to me during Watch What Happens Live: "I wish you get caught in the hurricane." And ironically, she later found herself caught in the storm and lived though the horror she wished upon me. Makes me wonder how mean-spirited she can be to even say that. Like the old Chinese adage says: "Be careful what you wish for, because you might get it." However, I will not hold a grudge against her, and instead I'm glad to know she returned safe and sound to her home. After all, life continues.I'm wishing all the families affected continued safety and strength, and I’m humbly hoping that somehow our show will provide to our viewers a much needed escape from this moment's difficult reality and bring you some entertainment and laugher.

I will keep you all in my prayers.

Warmest Wishes,

Adriana
