Jackie Goldschneider Shares Intimate Wedding Photos That Showcase Her Past Struggle with Anorexia
The Real Housewives of New Jersey newcomer was struggling with an illness on one of the happiest days of her lives.
Jackie Goldschneider is married to the love of her life. But on her wedding day, The Real Housewives of New Jersey rookie was dealing with a debilitating illness behind the scenes.
In a candid interview with People, the journalist came clean about her past struggles with anorexia. After years of severely restricting her caloric intake and exercising compulsively, "I was the thinnest person in the room and I was always going to be the thinnest person in the room,” she told the magazine. “That was my identity. That’s what I wanted.”
But after Jackie's wedding guests saw her gaunt frame in her gown, their reaction made Jackie pause. When her father approached her to let her know that friends and family members were concerned, she said, "That made me really sad, I didn’t want my parents to worry like that. But I couldn’t help myself.”
On November 20, the RHONJ pal shared photos of herself in the gown, and admitted that she managed to lose even more weight after the photos were taken. But ultimately, the mom of four shared in her caption, "I stood on a scale and told myself I’d die if I didn’t stop."
After meeting with a nutritionist who specializes in eating disorders, Jackie was largely able to overcome her struggles. "I’m still tempted sometimes. I still struggle with exercise now and then. But I don’t let myself reinstate those habits," she shared.
