A decade after 10-year-old Gia Giudice tearfully crooned she was "waking up in the morning, thinking about so many things," the song is now hilariously inspiring millions of TikTok users to do the same.
That song — which Gia performed on Season 3 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey amid her mom Teresa Giudice's drama with Joe Gorga — has recently gone viral. When Gia learned that people on the social media platform were featuring a sample of the tune in videos recalling their awkward, cringeworthy moments, she was stunned. "I was like, 'What the hell is going on?'" she exclusively recalled to Bravo Insider. "But then I was like...It's literally everywhere. I guess I just have to own it."
With that, Gia decided to use the song's newfound popularity to turn "a big passion" for fashion into a business. On June 24, Gia launched her fashion line, g.g.est.2001, with three sweatshirts that all feature the now-famous lyric. "I saw that my song was going viral, and I was like, 'Wait, this is like the perfect door-opener to be starting something really cool," she said. "So I decided to launch those sweatshirts."
The sweatshirts (currently available in pink, blue, and tan) are made in collaboration with and sold by Hazel Boutique. Gia, who is "obsessed with their clothing," declared that teaming up with the company is "a dream come true."
Now, Gia is ready to move beyond the song as she continues her career in fashion. "I'm literally forming so many designs, so many things separate from 'waking up in the morning,'" she said. "I'm doing so many more samples and new designs for matching sets, new sweatshirts, and sweatpants... Just something that I would really wear on a normal basis."
Her daily duds are now often inspired by Teresa, although Gia admitted that wasn't always the case. "My mom is definitely a little more out there than I am, but honestly, now I've grown to like more of the pieces that she wears," she said. "Like, obviously, stuff she wore years ago was not it. But now, I love her style... We just really feed off of each other's styles now, and we borrow each other's things."
One of Gia's signature looks is jeans paired with a crop top, so it's no surprise that designing quality denim is an important goal for her. "I have a big butt, a small waist, and I have smaller legs, but I'm not a twig, let's just say that," she explained. "My body is very curvy, and denim is very difficult for me because if I get, for example, a 25, they'll fit my legs and then be huge in my waist. Like, my waist is like a 24. So I would love to just create the perfect denim that works for curvy bodies."
As Gia pursues her fashion design dreams, she has the full support of her family. Audriana Giudice, Gabriella Giudice, and Milania Giudice showed their older sister some social media love when the sweatshirts launched, and Teresa "posts all the time" about the brand. Joe Giudice "literally posts about it like every five minutes," Gia shared with a laugh. "So cute."
Melissa Gorga also reached out with a congratulatory message. "She's really happy for me," Gia shared. So, will there be a g.g.est.2001 x Envy Boutique collaboration in the future? "I mean, if my aunt brought me that opportunity then, yeah, sure, that'd definitely be something to discuss," Gia said. "But, at the same time, I feel like business and family, I kind of keep that separate."
