Jackie Goldschneider on Her Stretch Marks in a Recent Pic: "I Won’t Airbrush My Body"
"No woman should be ashamed of their stretch marks or anything else about their bodies," The Real Housewives of New Jersey mom said.
Earlier this week, Jackie Goldschneider enjoyed a fabulous girls night out during New York Fashion Week with pal Melissa Gorga. The Real Housewives of New Jersey mom appeared to have a blast hitting up Fashion Week events and going out to dinner while looking fabulous in a black crop top sweater and curve-hugging denim. However, this fun girls night turned into a powerful, body-positive moment for Jackie.
"This sweet picture from last night turned into a discussion of my stomach on social media, so let’s talk about stretch marks, shall we?" she began in an Instagram post the next day. "My beautiful stomach held 4 healthy children, and those stretch marks remind me every day of how powerful my body is and how much mothers endure during pregnancy."
"I won’t airbrush my body to perfection so you see a fake version of me or an unrealistic picture of a mother. I love myself and I know that beauty is found in our imperfections. No woman should be ashamed of their stretch marks or anything else about their bodies. Like Eve Ensler said, 'Stop trying to fix your body. It was never broken.'"
In the comments section, Jackie's RHONJ crew showed their support. "Be proud you gave the world four amazing humans and made it a better place for all!! You are gorgeous head to toe I live for you my stunner!!" Margaret Josephs wrote. Melissa added, "You are beautiful inside and out."
This isn't the first time Jackie has opened up about body image issues. The columnist has been very transparent about her past with an eating disorder on RHONJ and her ongoing struggles with food. "Most of you know from the show that I’ve struggled with an eating disorder, but during the worst years of it, I lived a total nightmare that I never thought I’d see the other side of," she shared in an Instagram post in May.
"I still struggle with food, and being home all day with a house full of food and endless time has made me fight off demons from my past. I would never go back, but the struggle doesn’t go away. I am so proud to be on the other side of the worst of this disease."
