Melissa Gorga Responds to Criticism of Her House: “I’m the One That Has to Live There”
The RHONJ cast member has something to say about the comments on social media regarding the design of her new home.
In November 2022, Melissa Gorga revealed it was “finally moving day” for her family as they started to get settled in their newly constructed home. Since then, The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member has excitedly shared photos of the exterior, her sleek office, the beautiful kitchen, and more details of the house. Although some of her and Joe Gorga’s design choices have been met with mixed reactions on social media, Melissa recently explained why she remains unbothered by any criticism of her home.
Melissa Reacts to Criticism of Her New House
While talking about Melissa’s home on Part 1 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 13 reunion, host Andy Cohen said, “People were, like, coming after your design.”
Noting that the house is “not even done yet,” Melissa shared why she’s unfazed by opinions about it. “First of all, I’m the one that has to live there. So I don’t care what anybody says,” she declared.
Melissa previously revealed that she and Joe worked with Rachel Fuda and John Fuda’s tile company, and the ladies shared more details during the reunion episode that aired on May 30.
“Did Fuda Tile do the floors?” Andy asked. When Rachel responded, “Yes, we did,” he wanted to know, “Are Melissa and Joe demanding clients?”
“Melissa’s very demanding,” Rachel admitted with a laugh. “And she changes her mind a hundred times.”
Melissa agreed. “I did,” she said. “I changed it a hundred times, but John was awesome.”
Earlier in the conversation, Melissa declared the house “took forever” to build, and Andy responded, “I’m in the same boat as you.” As he confirmed in January, Andy is in the midst of “finishing [a] beach house” and “working on a new apartment in the city.”
Melissa's recent home updates
As for some of the changes we should expect to see in Melissa’s house, during the reunion episode she shared, “We’re still doing a lot of work to the outside.” Back in March, Melissa also revealed that she had replaced the black fabric chandeliers in the foyer with a new one made of brass and crystals.
“I absolutely love playing with home decor — I always have,” Melissa wrote in the caption of an Instagram video showing off the new fixture. “Waking up to this beauty is just sooo much better… Luckily I work with the best [Avenue Lighting]!! Love to be able to play around with ideas!! Decor is a process. Sometimes you need to live in the home for a minute to decide what fits perfectly.”
