We Were Family

Jill relishes in the fun at her birthday party -- and less so in the drama that came after.

By Jill Zarin

Hello everyone. I'm heading to the Hamptons with Bobby for the weekend. I want to start by saying that I had so much fun joining Andy Cohen in the Bravo Clubhouse for Watch What Happens Live. Allyson and Jennifer (Bobby's daughter and founder of The Birthmark Project on Facebook and Twitter) was in the audience with us. I also brought Ginger who was playing with everyone who would give her cheese! I absolutely adore Adam Carolla, and I thought we had great chemistry together. Hi wife, Lynette, sent a personal note to me that Adam delivered. I was shocked and honored. I promise to call next time I'm in LA! I want to thank them both for making the night so much fun. Please sign up for my newsletter if you want to see the present LuAnn and Cindy gave me for my birthday. It's a portrait of guess who? Andy is putting on the WWHL set!.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New York City on Peacock and catch up on the Bravo app

I'm glad I shared my visit to Dr. Pat Wexler to get my "liquid facelift" so others can see the process. Yes, it hurts, but beauty knows no pain or suffering. I suffered and had pain. It's like giving birth. After it's over you say never again, and then you do (sometimes). That day my sister, Lisa Wexler offered to take the train to the city to talk to Sonja. She was more than happy to answer any questions Sonja might have regarding her legal issues since her legal bills were escalating like crazy. I hope Sonja appreciated her advice. What I am best at is connecting people. The first thing I wanted to do was help Sonja generate income. I introduced her to the CFO of one of the top publishing houses in the world. To the best of my knowledge, they made her an offer to publish her toaster oven cookbook. Sonja knows that I'm always there for her.

When I walked in the door of Chez Josephine, Ramona was the first one to greet me, so I was under the impression that it was Ramona who threw the party. I later found out that LuAnn and Cindy had been planning it for weeks. As you can imagine, I'm not the easiest person to surprise. My cousin, Debby Hofmann (the best real estate broker in South Florida, Debbydoesrealestate.com) flew in under another premise. I then figured out that Bobby had flown her in for the party. Bobby bought me the most beautiful diamond necklace and earrings from Kwiat Jewelers that I am wearing in the scene. My sister wrote a fabulous poem for me, which unfortunately you didn't get to see. I am putting the poem in my exclusive newsletter that you can sign up for at jillzarin.com. I am also posting exclusive photos and funny family videos from Father's Day. I was also very touched to be serenaded by LuAnn, as well as hearing a poem from Cindy. I thought Ramona was gross when she badly impersonated me with a red wig and was screaming. It was also mean that Ramona would put down such a fabulous restaurant. Chez Josephine is a landmark in the theater district. I was flattered that Simon asked Bobby to give him fabric from my bedding line (available at bedbathandbeyond.com) to help promote my brand. He not only wore it, he had a designer make a pocketbook out of the fabric for me. That party was the last time I remember all of us being a "family." Everyone was in a good mood. I wish it could always be that way.

Ramona thought that LuAnn having Victoria's party at a night club was inappropriate since to get into a club normally you need to be 21. I thought that was silly. People rent out nightclubs for private parties all the time. Obviously when it's an under-age party there is no alcohol served. Ramona rented a raw space and turned it into a club so Kelly and I didn't see the difference. Was it just another chance for Ramona to throw a dig at LuAnn as a mother? I don't understand why Ramona constantly puts down LuAnn as a mother. She gives passive aggressive digs calling her a weekend mom whenever she can. It is mean, hurtful, and just not true. The saying "don't throw stones from glass houses" came to mind when Avery was telling Ramona how she felt. I too know what it's like to be home and not home at the same time. Avery reminds me of Allyson in some ways and I too need to "shut down" the phone and computer when at home. When we started the show, I was offered all kinds of opportunities to do more, but I knew if I did, it would cut down on my time with Allyson. I chose Allyson then, and and I would do it again. You can always make more money but you can't get the time back.

To me the Sweet 16 party is somewhat of a emancipation or right of passage. Ally had a Bat Mitzvah, so for her Sweet 16 we rented a limo for her and her friends to go bowling and out for dinner. I let Ally plan it and kissed her goodbye. Both Victoria and Avery looked lovely and their enjoyment of their birthday is all that matters in the end. As a gift, we gave them each a lovely black rope bracelet with a sterling silver drop from Kwiat Jewelers, where all the proceeds go to charity.

In the final scene of the episode you see Bobby, Simon, and Mario at the bar. Bobby had been hearing from multiple sources that Simon was heavily engaging in mean tweeting of Kelly and me. Bobby rarely interferes with any any of this as he generally thinks it's all nonsense. Bobby on his own felt that he needed to have an adult conversation with Simon asking him nicely to stop this behavior. Simon agreed and shook Bobby's hand. Clearly, Simon was not sincere and is still mean tweeting the both of us.

Time goes by so quickly. Before you know it, it will be fall, which means that Skweez Couture will finally be in stores. In addition to Lord & Taylor and Macy's I am pleased to announce that it will also be sold in Von Maur.

I will calling be into Lisa Wexler's radio show Friday to talk about this weeks episode, as I do every week. I will be on at 5:30 EST. Call in at 203-845-3044.

Lastly, I want to thank ALL OF YOU for watching. Bobby brings home letters and gifts almost every night and I will cherish every one of them.

Until next week. . .
