Secrets of the Dubrow Chateau

Good news for the design obsessed! Heather Dubrow’s tour of her famously gorgeous 40,000-square-foot manse, Dubrow Chateau, continues on her YouTube channel, Heather’s Closet. And in this installment we are treated to a complete and highly detailed look at her jaw-dropping kitchen

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Orange County on  Peacock and the Bravo App.

“The kitchen is basically the heart of any home, and I love my kitchen,” Heather exclaims at the start of the tour. And what’s not to love? The kitchen, which is “75 percent the size of a football field, literally,” according to husband Terry, boasts multiple dining and meal prep areas, numerous cabinets and compartments for keeping things hyper organized, just the way Heather likes it, scene stealing finishes and not too mention ingenious features, like a working trough in the center of her island for chilling the Champagne.

Let’s follow Heather and her stiletto booties around and get a closer look at her fabulously designed kitchen.

Heather Dubrow dining table

Heather had a hand in designing every aspect of her kitchen, including this sleek granite-topped dining table. "I designed this table to comfortably seat eight with these existing chairs," says Heather. "But I can actually pull these chairs out and…put in smaller chairs and get 10 or 11 around this table, which I love because it’s fun to have extra people over for dinner."

Heather Dubrow Shelves

Heather completely customized her wall shelves so she could display her prized collection of designer Kelly Wearstler objects. "This is my ode to Kelly Wearstler. I love these floating shelves." Heather reveals in the tour. "It was hard to figure out what to put on these shelves at first. We played around with a lot of different things, but I love Kelly’s accessories, and I thought this would be a cool place to display them. And you’ll notice there are actually pictures in the frames, which is amazing because after two years those are the only frames that have pictures in them."

Heather Dubrow tech closet

Heather admits that her major pet peeve is visible wires for electronics (you are not alone, sister). So she designed a brilliant tech closet to house her families gadgets and chargers and keep the wires safely out of sight. "Joan Crawford didn’t like wire hangers, I didn’t like wire chords. Drives me crazy!"

The cabinet also houses the family's so-called "douchebag jar" for moments when someone is being less than nice. "There’s the douchebag jar, cuz if you’re a douchebag, you gotta put money in the jar," she shares. "Do you want guess who in the house has put the most money in the jar? I’ll let that one sit." We're just going to take a pass on guessing.

Heather Dubrow's fridge

In keeping with her admitted obsession with having everything organized, Heather's fridge is a picture of perfection. "Everything is organized in glass. Everything is etched with the name of the content. I love a beautiful refrigerator," says Heather. But she admits that this is the pretty "show" refrigerator, and that there is another "very messy" refrigerator hidden that the family also uses.

Heather Dubrow's Island

Heather's kitchen has not one but two massive islands. One is used for cooking and prepping meals; the other is a place for the family and friends to gather. Oh, and it has one completely show-stopping feature that Heather considers the best in the house. "I love this island for many reasons. First of all, this marble is stunning. I just adore the pattern. I love all the colors. We have eight stools here. It's so much to fun to sit here and eat, play games, hang out. But I think this feature in the center is one of the best things I think I put in the house. Underneath the metal grate is a trough."

Heather Dubrow's ice island

The trough comes with a drain and lighting. "We fill it with ice and there are lights in there. We turn them on, we light up the ice and we put Champagne, caviar, shellfish, crudité — its so much fun and you can hang out all around this island, get your drinks and food. It’s such a incredibly fun thing to do when you’re entertaining."

Heather Dubrow's range

The centerpiece of Heather's kitchen is a double wide oven with an enormous hood she designed herself. She says she explicitly asked for the metal studs to be place one third of the way down on the hood, and her fabricator objected, saying they should be placed midpoint. She says it turned into a teachable moment: "Sometimes when you're designing — especially me because I’m not a professional designer, I just like what I like — and you second guess yourself. Let me tell you something, don’t second guess yourself, it’s your house, if you like something, do it." In the end, she got her way and she is proud of the outcome: "Third of the way down, looks good, right?" Looks really good, Heather!
