There’s no question that Emily Simpson’s fitness journey has inspired and motivated countless fans.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Orange County on  Peacock and the Bravo App.

Over the past nine months, The Real Housewives of Orange County mom has consistently taken to Instagram to share her workout routines, new eating habits, and everyday self-care practices. While her dedication and transparency have been met with positive feedback, they’ve also sparked questions from those looking to make a similar life change. And thankfully for fans, Emily isn’t afraid to tackle those inquiries.

On Saturday, September 2, the OC attorney conducted another Q&A session in which she answered questions from her Instagram followers. While some of the submissions involved her family life, friendships, and RHOC castmates, the majority of them focused on health and fitness, like how her exercise regimen has changed over the past year and whether or not she tracks her macros.

Emily Simpson’s Lifestyle Changes

Emily Simpson appears on Watch What Happens Live.

“I’ve always worked out (except while filming last season I didn’t work out once and I’ll never do that again),” she wrote. “I used to work out 3-4 times a week. I walked a lot. Mostly lifted light weights. Now I work out 6-7 times a week. I always start with 20-30 minute of cardio on the elliptical (level 10) and then about an hour of weight lifting.”

Emily was then asked which factor played the biggest role in her body transformation: diet or exercise. Emily said it was the former, as she spent years working out but didn’t see a physical difference until she improved her eating habits.

“Change your diet. Change your life,” she replied.

In a September 19 Instagram post, Emily shared just how far she's come on her health journey. "Around age 42 I gained 40 pounds and it wasn’t until now (age 47) that I was able to finally get it off and feel like my old self again," she wrote. "Just to be clear though… I rocked a bathing suit on TV for 5 years and never felt ugly or not confident in myself or my body. Not once."

"I am the strongest (mentally and physically) right now … at age 47 …and I will continue to improve myself daily. My only competition is Me," she continued. "Thank you for following this journey with me and for those of you who are always kind and comment positive things … I appreciate you! For the haters out there.. I love you too! You motivate me daily to lift harder and eat better."

Emily's may also soon be working toward a new fitness goal. During her Instagram AMA earlier this month, a user asked Emily if she has ever considered doing a physique exhibition like her RHOC castmate Tamra Judge.

“Have you thought about a fitness competition,” they wrote. “Take Tamras crown?”

Emily’s response? “Yes… I’ve pondered it.”

On Season 17 Episode 15 of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Tamra told Emily that she talked to her husband, Eddie Judge, about Emily's interest in doing a fitness competition. However, Emily wasn't totally sure if she would move forward with it.

"I don't know if I could actually do it," Emily shared. "I just always wanted to do it. I always have, like, a goal. I went to college and I graduated from college, and I was like, that wasn't enough. Then I went to law school, so I graduated from law school, and then I passed two bar exams."
