Meghan King is opening up about a scary incident that took place at her California home five years ago. The Real Housewives of Orange County alum recently revealed that her former house was once burglarized, speaking out about the ordeal publicly for the first time in a personal blog post entitled “Safety: A 5 Year Overdue Essay.”

On September 3, Meghan took to her Instagram to share a photo taken on the day of the burglary. “Five years ago today on a beautiful day in Idaho I went boating on Lake Coeur d’Alene only to return a shattered woman. I was 7 months pregnant with Aspen and had just gotten my puppy, Girly Girl when my world changed forever,” she wrote in the caption of the picture.

She went on to add, “For the first time ever I’m breaking my silence on when my home was burglarized. This exact photo was taken only moments before I found out.”

Meghan shared more details about the incident on her blog, revealing that she was first alerted to a possible break-in by an employee and later spotted the theft taking place on footage from her security camera.

“The bad guys climbed through a second story window that was left cracked open to accept the cool ocean breeze,” she wrote, revealing that the perpetrators disabled her A/V system and stole her designer handbags, along with “jewelry drawers full of irreplaceable heirloom jewelry from my grandparents among other high priced items.”

Meghan went on to reflect on the impact on the incident, writing, “I lost so much materially and so much emotionally, but slowly I got piece by piece back. There’s still that gaping hole of safety that will be filled someday –  that has taken the longest.”

Last year, Meghan made the major move back to St. Louis, Missouri. The RHOC alum purchased a house in her hometown in November 2020, sharing the happy news on Instagram.

I did a thing! I bought a house!" she wrote at the time.
