On the Season 7 premiere of The Real Housewives of Potomac, Ashley Darby revealed that she had made an offer on a home she planned to buy with Michael Darby. However, Ashley shared on the show’s October 23 episode that the house-hunting process wasn’t going as she’d hoped.

“I’ve put three offers in, and every time another offer came in that was all cash, and the [sellers] decided to go with them," Ashley explained in an episode interview. When asked why she and Michael, who are currently separated, didn’t make a cash offer on a home, Ashley noted, “[Michael] doesn’t think that’s a financially sound decision, [and] I don’t either.”

Ashley continued her search in Arlington, Virginia, when she went to see a five-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom home listed for $1.5 million. As she explained to her brother Zach, the 4,132-square-foot abode had “a lot of [the] qualities” she wants in a house, including a spacious open kitchen: “The big thing is me being able to cook and see my kids at the same time.”

While Ashley seemed to like the house, she noted, “I think what will ultimately be a determining factor is what Michael feels too, since we are planning to buy this house together.” However, Ashley’s real estate agent, Natalie, who also works for Michael, revealed something that left Ashley a bit stunned.

After Ashley shared, “[Michael] said that [our separation] could affect our [home buying] process,” Natalie was quick to shut that down. “No, I've spoken to your lender,” she said. “So I have all of the tools I need.”

In an interview, Ashley opened up about feeling misled by Michael. “I was a little surprised by that,” she admitted. “Saying that buying a home is contingent on our marital status, it makes me look at Michael a little sideways.”

“When I think about that, I get upset about it,” she continued. “But, man, I can’t let it bog me down.”

On the October 9 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Ashley defended her plan to buy a house with Michael. “He does real estate for a living,” she said. “Buying a house is hard work, honey, so if he could make the process a little easier, then I was gonna do that with him. And we’re still legally married.” Later, Andy noted that Ashley and Michael are “still, to this day, cohabitating in [their] condo.”
