Ashley Darby Wants to Clear Something Up About the Home She Bought with Her Ex-Husband
The RHOP cast member clarified a misconception about her ex's involvement in the purchase of her house last year.
During Season 7 of The Real Housewives of Potomac, Ashley Darby shocked her castmates (and many viewers at home) when she revealed she and her ex-husband planned to buy a new house together for her to live in with their two sons. Although Ashley's loved ones expressed concern because of her ongoing divorce, she stood by her decision, and the former couple ultimately bought a 4-bedroom home for $2,200,000.
“I actually found it kind of comical that everyone got so upset about it and questioned it so much,” Ashley shared on an October 2022 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. “[My ex] is a real estate developer...He does real estate for a living. Buying a house is hard work, honey, so if he could make the process a little easier, then I was gonna do that with him. And we’re still legally married.”
“At face value, to buy a property with someone who I’m divorcing, yes, that does sound counterintuitive, just dumb,” Ashley explained in an interview during the Season 7 finale of RHOP. “But I do feel like, financially, it’s a better decision for me."
Ashley Darby gives an update on her home situation with her ex-husband
Now that some time has passed since Ashley, Dylan, and Dean moved into the house, when Ashley returned to the WWHL Clubhouse on November 12, a virtual audience member asked for an update on the situation with her ex: "Ashley, what is the current status of your divorce, and is your ex's name off the new mortgage yet?"
Ashley explained, "I'm still in the [divorce] process, number one. But my name is still the only name on the deed, which really is what matters."
"You know, I mean, there's financial stuff," she continued. "But my name's on the deed. It's my house."
Details on Ashley Darby's family vacation with her ex and their kids
As she explained on Season 8 Episode 2 of RHOP, which aired on November 12, Ashley, her ex-husband, and their kids recently vacationed together as the former couple continues to move forward with their divorce. "We did go to The Bahamas together. We had a great time," she said. "We're still navigating co-parenting, and it's going really well. I don't think either of us really wants to rock that boat. Like, even in the Bahamas, even though we were there together, it was like we were like two friends with our kids."
During her WWHL appearance that same night, she clarified the sleeping arrangement on the trip. "Separate rooms, yes," she said. "But they were conjoined by a door."
