Karen Huger Explains Why She Believes 3-Wick Candles Are Better Than 1-Wick Candles
The RHOP cast member had more to say about La'Dame's upcoming three-wick candles.
Candles have been a hot topic on this season of The Real Housewives of Potomac. After Wendy Osefo revealed on the show's July 18 episode that she was launching a candle as part of her new Onyi Home Essentials company, Karen Huger announced on the August 29 episode that she was expanding La'Dame with a three-wick candle. Needless to say, the ladies haven't exactly seen eye-to-eye on the matter.
While Wendy shared in an episode interview that she was "a bit confused," because Karen "did not mention her candle line" when Wendy went to her for business advice, Karen explained in her own interview that she didn't feel the products were the same. "The La'Dame candle is a three-wick candle, and hers is a one-wick candle," she said. "So mine can cover the area of a larger space, if you will." In an Instagram post, she added, "This is a multi billion dollar industry; there is room at the table for all of us."
On Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen's September 12 episode, Karen made a brief virtual appearance to further explain why her three-wick candles are "better" than one-wick candles.
"La'Dame lights the way so you don't bump into walls in the middle of the night," she said before explaining her candle "brings the shade," "doesn't do small gatherings," and "covers up any funky situation."
After she concluded, "La'Dame three-wick candle is not a one-wick wonder," even Andy Cohen was taken aback. "I think she's calling Wendy's candle a one-wick wonder," he said. "I have literally never thought about wicks this much in my life, and I can't get enough, frankly."
During the episode, Andy asked newcomer Mia Thornton if Karen should apologize to Wendy for "not giving her a heads up" about her candle launch. Although it appeared Mia was going to say yes, she paused before saying, "Well, she did...I think she did."
