Padma Lakshmi Pulls Off One of the Hardest Red-Carpet Looks
The Top Chef host took a risk at Vogue India's glitzy event.
Padma Lakshmi never ceases to amaze us with her regal red-carpet looks. We’ve seen her in everything from royal-like ball gowns to sexy cut-outs, and this past weekend the Top Chef host was one fierce lady in red.
Sunday, Padma attended the Vogue India Women of the Year Awards 2017 in Mumbai, India, where the host was also being honored. Padma turned heads in a deep v-cut red dress by J. Mendel, which she paired with black strappy sandals. While red can be a diffcult color to pull off at events like this, the Top Chef host still managed to stand out against the scarlet carpet.
As for her beauty look, makeup artist Shali Nayak created a smoky eye on Padma, which she balanced out with radiant skin and a nude lip. For her red carpet ‘do, hairstylist Franco Vallelonga pulled Padma’s newly short strands back for a textured wet look.
Throughout the evening, Padma shared numerous pics and videos of what was a very sentimental night for the host. "I grew up in the west, and I always wondered what it would've been like to be among you, to grow up in India and have that experience of being a true Indian girl...I kind of never felt Indian enough, and Vogue helped me break through that," she said in her acceptance speech.
"Tonight is a very emotional moment for me because I never thought I belonged to this circle, to these brilliant people, and these very accomplished actors, and producers, and designers. And this award I'm accepting tonight on behalf of every little girl who doesn't feel like she belongs, whether it's in the east of the west."
Such a beauty, inside and out. Congratulations, Padma!
