Top Chef’s Padma Lakshmi Practices “Nachos as Self Care”
The Top Chef host makes a great point: Who needs massages and sheet masks when you can have this?
Sundays should be about slowing down and practicing some self-care, right? But while some people opt to do a sheet mask (lovely) or take a long, fragrant bath (lovelier still), others head straight to the kitchen to find tortilla chips and cheese. Padma Lakshmi falls into the latter category.
On Super Bowl Sunday, February 3, the Bravo's Top Chef judge used her Instagram Stories to spill a little secret. Showing herself sprinking more cheese onto two plates of nachos before sticking them into the oven, she confessed in her caption that she uses the crunchy snacks as "self-care." Pssh, sheet masks — why didn't we think of this?
Padma spilled more details about her snack, including that she'd made a plate of vegetarian nachos, topped just with black beans and cheese. The other batch was topped with ground meat and beans. But however you top your chips, heed this rule: "Really, you're supposed to make nachos in the oven," Padma said. "Not in the microwave, like we usually do at midnight."
Padma, being the perfect comfort-food maker, also laid out a pretty mini toppings bar for her snack. She had spicy guacamole, regular guacamole, fresh pico de gallo, and pickled peppers. Check it all out, below, and start dreaming of your own new Sunday ritual.
