Andy Cohen Reveals How He'd React to Son Ben Appearing on Reality TV
The WWHL host does have some advice should his son decide to share his life on TV in the future.
When the Real Housewives gathered in 2019 to celebrate Andy Cohen at a baby shower ahead of the birth of his son, Benjamin Allen Cohen, the theme was "A Star Is Born." Since his birth, two years ago, Ben has really lived up to the theme, making appearances on his famous dad's (and other famous people's) Instagram, on reunion shows, as well as on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where he's even won an award. At 2 years old, little Ben has already displayed his star quality in abundance.
To put it lightly, he's a baby A-lister.
Considering that Ben's daddy works in TV in various capacities from host to executive producer, when Bravo Insider recently chatted with Andy, we wondered what his thoughts would be if grown-up Ben came to him and told him he had signed up for a reality show.
His first reaction? "I would say be very careful, and I would say be very careful with your social media. And I would say, I would want to know everything about the show. My first question would be, 'Who's the production company?'" Andy told Bravo Insider. "I would say, 'Why are you doing it? What do you want to get out of it?'"
Andy then shared some other similar wisdom he recently gave someone: "I was like, you have a really great resume going, like, what do you want out of this? And they just wanted exposure and to be famous. I'm like, OK, well. And there you go."
Andy is definitely an expert in the world of reality TV. His expertise and fascination with this art form is on full display on the E! limited series, For Real: The Story of Reality TV. And, yes, despite his impressive resume, even Andy is still learning and taking advice.
"There's always something more to learn about everything. Just when you think you've got it figured out, life changes or people lose interest in what you think they want and they want something else. Or, you know, the great thing about these shows is they're unscripted, so you never know what's gonna happen," he said. "So that's what always keeps them interesting to me."
