Scheana Says Sandoval's "Only Person" Who's Always Had Her Back: “I Had to Choose a Side”

You know that it's our time ... to get a little sad that Vanderpump Rules Season 11 is oh-so-close to wrapping up. The good news? There's plenty of drama — and realizations — still to come in the next couple of weeks.

During the season's penultimate episode on April 30 (that's Season 11, Episode 14 to be precise), Scheana Shay revealed that she had a change of heart, or at least came to a new realization, about her relationship with Tom Sandoval. 

Why Scheana Shay Struggled to Take Ariana Madix's "Side"

Speaking to Tom through tears, Scheana said, "I [will] never forget what a good friend you've been to me. You're the only person who's had my back since day one. I don't forget that."

The "Good as Gold" singer went on to note that her close friendship with Ariana Madix is what made the March 2023 breakup, and subsequent friendship fallouts, so hard on her. "I had to choose a side. And she didn't do anything wrong."

Tom noted that he didn't understand why such a strong line had to be drawn in the sand. "Relationships never end well. When I show up to any event I feel so alienated," he said.

In the end, however, the duo decided that they'd like to "be able to move forward where [they're] not throwing each other's pasts in their faces."

"I don't hate you," added Scheana. "I don't want anything bad for you. I miss you."

Tom agreed.

Ariana Madix Called Scheana Shay Forgiving Tom Sandoval "Pathetic"

Later, Scheana stepped out for a burlesque show in honor of Lala Kent's birthday. While the rest of the friend group was in attendance, the Most Extras frontman wasn't invited, giving Lala the chance to ask Scheana what exactly she was doing with him earlier that day. "I was at Kyle Chan's. We were going over the performance for Friday," explained Scheana. "He apologized. I just said 'I miss you.' And he, like, had tears in his eyes too and said 'I miss you too.'"

While Scheana was sharing, Ariana couldn't hide her distaste for the conversation. "Pathetic," she said under her breath, later expanding on her thoughts in a confessional: "What is going on? It honestly makes me feel like I'm being gaslit or something. As if what happened was not clear as f-cking day. It has nothing to do with me. It has to deal with the fact that he repeatedly treats her like sh-t and doesn't give a f-ck about her. That ain't your friend, babe."

Ariana Madix Won't Speak to Tom Sandoval for Scheana Shay's Benefit

Although Tom and Scheana have seemingly forgiven each other, the drama isn't water under the bridge for everyone.

After a tumultuous boat ride in San Francisco, Brock Davies asked Ariana if she sees herself talking to Sandoval in the future, specifically for his wife's benefit. "I care more about her than allowing her to have people in her life who treat her like that," the Broadway star responded — in other words a big no. 

"The notion that you have to forgive to move on in your life, that's outdated therapy," she added in a confessional. "Gray rocking and going no contact is literally the only way to avoid the sh-t, the manipulation, all of it."

Scheana Shay Previously Hinted at a Reconciliation with Tom Sandoval

While speaking to The Daily Dish in March 2024, Scheana opened up about where she currently stands with Tom.

"Sometimes far away. You know, socially distant!" she quipped before getting serious. "No, it was a long journey this season. And you will see every tough conversation I've had with him."
