Bravotv.com: You mentioned you don’t do yachting full time now. What are you doing when you’re not working on yachts?
Kate Chastain: I'm always happy to take off to an exotic destination for six weeks where I can make some money working for Captain Lee. However the rest of the year, I really enjoy the land based life I've created for myself recently. A dream of mine has long been to run a vintage store, so I'm very excited to announce that I've just opened an upscale resale store where all proceeds go to the nonprofit I work with, Genesis House of Melbourne, FL. It's been so fun getting the shop ready, and I love that I can take my dog Halo to that job with me, which unfortunately isn't something I can do working on yachts...although I am hoping to eventually convince Captain Lee that every yacht should have a crew dog for morale. I mean, my dog does have the same amount of yachting experience as most of crew this season.
Bravotv.com: What were your first impressions of the new crew members?
KC: Immediately I could tell that this was the least experienced crew I'd ever worked with. After meeting everyone, I was more than nervous about how the charter season would go – I was scared. Luckily Matt seemed calm and kind, a welcome change from the chefs I'd worked with recently, and I was happy to see Nico back because he's experienced. Also Nico and I had our differences last year, but I knew it was just due to cabin fever and misunderstandings, so I was looking forward to a chance at a fresh start working with him.
